The Professional Science Master's degree is a recent development in the field of science and business education. It was designed primarily but not exclusively for those with science or business backgrounds who intend to work in a science-based business or in an environment focused on commercializing science technologies. The MBA, while admitting students with a wide range of backgrounds, makes no effort to customize program content to specific student backgrounds or industries. What is the selection process for choosing participants and how many will be accepted?

Applicants will be screened on the basis of background, qualifications, and degree of interest in and fit with the goals of the program. There are 25 spots available in the program starting in June each year and is based on a rolling application process, once the spots have been filled the class will close. What types of backgrounds will Professional Science Master's graduate students taking the program with me have?

We expect the largest group of Professional Science Master's students to have undergraduate or graduate science or health science backgrounds, followed by those with business degrees working in a science-based organization. However, those with law and other backgrounds are welcomed.

What does a program like this cost and what are the terms?

The cost of the program is $40,000, which is competitive with other customized master's programs targeted toward professionals and graduate students. This includes all program materials, books, university fees, campus technology fees, parking passes and in-session meals. Travel expenses and hotels are not included. Billings and payments are made on a quarterly basis. Once accepted into the program a non-refundable $500 deposit is required and will be applied to the beginning summer session.

What is required to complete my application?

In addition to the online application, a current resume, official transcripts of your highest completed education, two letters of recommendation, an interview, and one of the following scores; GMAT, GRE, MCAT, DAT or PCAT, are required to complete the application process. You will be notified two to three weeks after your file has been completed.

Are there scholarships for this program?

Some scholarships may be available, along with discounts for multiple participants from the same company. How does Creighton's Professional Science Master's degree differ from others around the country?

Many Professional Science Master's programs involve combining pre-existing off the shelf courses in science and business. Some are delivered on-line. In contrast, every course in Creighton's Professional Science Master's program has been newly-designed to combine bioscience and management principles with relevant, hands-on cases and examples. The material will be delivered in a unique, fifteen-month weekend cohort style, so participants will remain with their class members throughout the entire program, which facilitates the development of teaming and leadership skills. Most courses involve real world projects, supervised by faculty with both academic credentials and substantial professional experience. All content will be delivered at the Creighton University campus, most by Creighton faculty.
